Arunachal Pradesh-Location

Arunachal Pradesh is the Eastern most state of India. Arunachal Pradesh borders with the Indian state of Assam to the south and Nagaland to the Southeast. Burma/Myanmar lies towards the east, Bhutan towards the west, and its boundary with the People's Republic of China to the north is disputed and the McMahon Line is not recognised by the Chinese authorities.

Itanagar is the capital of the state. It has been divided into 15 districts.Arunachal Pradesh
became a union territory in 1972 and a state in 1987. It spans an area of 83,743 km² and the population is over 1,091,200. Although, Arunachal Pradesh is administered as an Indian State, the People's Republic of China (mainland China) and the Republic of China (Taiwan) claim portions of the state as South Tibet.

Arunachal Pradesh means "land of the dawn lit mountains" in Sanskrit. It is also known as"land of the rising sun" ("pradesh" means "state" or "region") in reference to its position as the easternmost state of India. Rising from the tropically lush valleys of the Brahmaputra River, surrounded by the serried ridges and the peaks of the Eastern Himalayas, Arunachal Pradesh is the first land to be kissed by the rays of the morning sun, thus has the name, “The Land of Rising Sun”.

Most of the people native to and/or living in Arunachal Pradesh are of Tibeto-Burman origin. A large and increasing number of migrants have reached Arunachal Pradesh from many other parts of India, although no reliable population count of the migrant population has been conducted, and percentage estimates of total population accordingly vary widely. Part of the famous Ledo Burma Road, which was a lifeline to China during World War II, passes through the eastern part of the state. Arunachal Pradesh is entirely on the Eurasian Plate.

Its economy is mostly agricultural. The forest-products are the next most significant sector of the economy. Its service sector boasts of Real Estate, Consultancies, Travel and Tourism, and Construction. It has many hotels to cater to the needs of tourists. Its unspoiled environment is also a source of attraction for tourists. It has airports located at Itanagar, Daparijo, Ziro, Along, Tezu and Pashigat. It has two highways: NH 52 connecting Jonai with Dirak and another, which connects Tezpur in Assam with Tawang.
